Hi everyone! I thought I’d better get this posted before I forget. There have been several medical crises going on either in our family or with my personal care aide (she is family!). Whew! Hopefully things calm down soon.
I’ve participated in the Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap. This photo was taken by Sheila Delgado. Sheila’s blog about my art She got one of my cards! I know it’s too large but the way to fix it isn’t showing up! I’m sorry.
I want to share with you all the things I currently have in my Zentangle® Store, in case your supplies are low or you’d like to add to your Zentangle things.
I won’t list the prices here but if you email me at email@example.com , leave a message here, or even on Facebook Messenger I will let you know the prices.

Monthly FIRST Mondays at 6:00 PM we will be meeting at the Tazewell Public Library for our Heart Untangled group. Come and have fun with us! There will be laughter, drawing and sharing and all that will be missing is YOU, so please come!
We’ve had a lot of illness in the family, and one involved the Five day hospitalization of our daughter, Adriel. Things have been in a bit of chaos as a result. Hopefully things will begin to change now.
Keep an eye out for my blog posts… I’ll be sharing parts of my life as well as all things Zentangle. The next post will be a list of things currently available in our store! Be on the lookout for it in the next 24 hours😀
There are lots of changes when a new year starts… resolutions, health care plans, and of course the date — and Hearts Untangled is no different. We have a new meeting time in Tazewell for our fun, free meeting and a new class!
Every month, we have a gathering of Zentanglers who love to draw, chat, share ideas or questions, and learn new tangles from Kat or one another. It’s two hours that fly by of free, lighthearted fun! We can all use more of that in our lives, I think.
We now meet every FIRST MONDAY of each month (note the change) at the Tazewell Public Library from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. (Of course you can leave any time). Bring your supplies, ideas and tangles to share, your sense of humor and willingness to learn new things. For your convenience, Kat and David have supplies for sale if you are short on anything.
Speaking of supplies, we have the NEW triangle tiles from the Zentangle® headquarters called 3Zs! The photo in this newsletter was drawn by Kat on a 3Z tile. They are fun and full of possibilities and make excellent mosaics (a grouping of connecting tiles that go together to make a larger image).
And one more bit of news!
Kat will be teaching a new class called “TRAVELING ART: Zentangle NoteCards” in Bluefield, WV at the Blue Mountain Mercantile located at 320 Federal Street. It will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 1:30-4:30 PM, with a break midway. All supplies will be provided, and the fee is $35. Learn how to make and send your masterpiece to a lucky recipient! So much more personal and special than an email.
Call (304) 327-7560 for directions and registration.
Hello again! I hope your weather is as gorgeous as ours has been! I’ve taken a few photos that I’ll share with you shortly, but first, I’d like to ask you a question and I really hope you will leave your responses in the comments below.
Would you prefer this blog stay as it is, with only news of new classes and tangles? Or would you like it if it’s a bit more personal, with other photos (like those below) or comments about my experiences or about my family, etc? I would still talk primarily about Zentangle but there would be more elaborate and more of my life in it. It’s up to you, my dear reader! Let your voice be heard!
Please check the Events page at the top or side of this page. It tells about the next class offered, Holiday Gems. They are also referred to as ZenGems. You’ll learn how or draw two different kinds of gems as well as learning a new tangle or more. Call (276)596-0602 right away if interested as class is filling fast!
The class is held at a dear little church in North Tazewell, VA in the fellowship hall. It has plenty of room, feels good in the room, and is easy to find (There’s a house between the church and the North Tazewell Post Office.) We’ll be having lots of classes there in the near future as well as the Blue Mountain Mercantile in Downtown Bluefield, WV.
Speaking of a class in the church, we had one just this past Saturday and it was a lot of fun! Here are some photos from the class …
Please don’t forget to leave a comment below, responding to my question about this blog: Would you like it to have more about my life i.e. photos and news, or strictly Zentangle with no personal info?
Now some local color…
Keep Tangling to keep your mind and heart UNtangled!
I’ve been creating new tangles and have decided that it’s time to share with the Zentangle world at large two today. Both are simple to learn, and both can be used as borders.
The first is called Beanz because the first strokes look like a coffee bean. Here is an example of Beans as a border tangle. Please note that I’m posting two photos for each because some see these upside down. This way, I hope everyone can see one right side up!
Beanz(click to enlarge):
.Here is another tangle of mine, called Aro, which is pronounced like “arrow.” It can be a border tangle or can be stacked upon itself. I saw a pattern like this on a bracelet
The golden one above the Step-out was drawn by Inge Frasch, CZT. I hope you’ll enjoy drawing these tangles! I’d love to see what you do with them! Send them to me at Untangled.Kat@gmail.com when you have something done!
